A while back I wrote about the equation here:
A (Factors in which we have no control) + B (Complete control) = C (Outcome/Attitude)
Yesterday was down right gloomy in NYC. The sky was gray, the temperature was low, the streets were empty, and the impending doom of Monday lingered. All of that combined could certainly have led to a long, lonely day in my bed.
I did not want the UNCONTROLLABLE, to control my day. I called my buddy and we decided to spend the day riding in the suburbs of New Jersey. The sky didn’t change, the temperature didn’t change, and the approaching Monday didn’t stop. However, my attitude changed along with my actions. I decided that the gray day was as good as any other. I still had the ability to ride. I just had to deal with a more challenging back-drop.
At the end of the day I was completely satisfied. I felt refreshed and ready for Monday. I now have a new view of what these “gray sky” days can be…..and that is fantastic. Always progress and take control to defeat the uncontrollable.
