This article is fantastic! It touches on every important aspect of cycling in recovery. The article is neatly organized and easy to read. It begins by running through all the benefits, which are certainly plentiful. However, the article also discusses the dangers of cycling in recovery. Often times, we fail to realize that addictions can be replaced and an otherwise healthy activity can quickly become detrimental. Overall, this article is well-rounded and one that I would use in my daily practice. I also enjoyed the explanation of how cycling improves self esteem……see below!
“Cycling is good for increasing self-esteem. Addiction destroys people not only physically but also mentally. By the time the individual is finished with alcohol and drugs their feeling of self-worth can be low. Cycling gives people the opportunity to increase their fitness levels and develop some mastery over their body – this in turn will increase self-esteem.”
